Higher earning potential on large orders due to generous tips, but the shopping component makes it more time-intensive than pure delivery.

About this role

Shop for groceries at local stores and deliver them to customers as a full-service Instacart Shopper. You handle both the shopping and delivery, earning batch pay plus tips.

About the Company

Instacart Shoppers earn $15-$25/hr shopping and delivering groceries. Tips on big orders can be substantial, but the work is more physical than pure delivery.

Honest Take

Instacart can pay more than food delivery because grocery tips tend to be larger. A $200 Costco order might get you a $25+ tip. But you are also spending 30-60 minutes in a store shopping. Cherry-pick high-tip batches and avoid low-pay doubles.

Pros

  • ✓ Higher tips on large grocery orders with $20-$50+ tips possible
  • ✓ Choose which batches to accept
  • ✓ See earnings plus tip estimate before accepting
  • ✓ Costco batches pay well
  • ✓ No vehicle requirement for in-store shoppers

Cons

  • ✗ Shopping plus driving means more time per order
  • ✗ Physical work lifting heavy groceries and walking stores
  • ✗ Tips can be reduced after delivery
  • ✗ Batch availability varies by market
  • ✗ Must maintain high ratings for best batches

Best For

Active people who do not mind the shopping component and want bigger tips on large grocery orders.
